Abstract
621,308. Hinges. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 17, 1947, No. 4479. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1946. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] Spring-action knuckle-jointed hinges; pivoting adjustments, single.-An arm 56, carrying a folding device in a sewing-machine (see Group VII), pivoted at 58 to a support 59 provided with a, detent lever 61 pivoted at 63 and carrying a pin 65 which engages notches 56a in the hinge lugs of the arm 56 ; the detent is urged into engagement with the member 56 by springs 67 acting against the pin 65. When the detent is released the arm 56 is turned upwards by a spring-pressed plunger 70, the movement being completed, on release of the detent, by the pin 65 bearing on cam surfaces on the lugs of the member 56.
