Abstract

534,545. Sewing-mnchines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 17, 1940, Nos. 3078 and 3079. Convention dates, Sept. 2, 1939, and Sept. 22, 1939. [Class 112] A fabric guide and uncurling device for a scale pan type sewing-machine comprises a central guide member 8 and uncurling members 10, 11 pivoted upon and pressed towards the member 8. The shank 9 of the member 8 is pivoted upon a stud 23 in a plate 15 vertically adjustable, by means of a screw 26, upon a bracket 14 which is adjustable in a horizontal plane by means of a compound slide 13. The shank 9 is mounted between the plate 15 and a disc 31 which is notched to co-operate with latches 36, 37 pivoted upon the shank 9. Mounted also on the pivot pin 43 of the latches is an operating lever 40. To move the device from the operative position, the lever 40 is turned to raise the latch 36 out of its notch in the disc 31 and, thereafter, to turn the device with its latches into the dotted line position where the latch 37 enters a second notch in the disc 31. A third notch is provided for the latch 37 to hold the device above the dotted line position. In a modification, the device is shifted by means of two lever arms secured respectively upon the two latches.
