[Class 112] Pivoted mechanism which is reversible for machines driven by left or right - hand pulleys and adjustable to suit various operators is provided for actuating the presser bar lifting mechanism. The presser-bar lifting mechanism shown is of the known kind consisting of a lever 11 pivoted at 12 and tilted by a rod 13 pulled by a spring - biassed lever 14 pivoted to a plate 15 below the bed plate 1. The lever 14 is actuated by a head 44 carried by a rod 42 extending through the drip-catching casing 46 and adjustably secured to a rod 40 by a set screw 43. The rod 40 is adjustably secured in a bearing 39 of a member swinging on a pin 21 by its two arms 26, 27. The pin 21 is secured in bearings in a plate 18 by a set screw 22. The plate 18 is reversibly and adjustably secured to the underside of the machine table 3 by screws 17 passing through elongated holes 19 in the plate. The swinging member has a middle bearing 31 for the bent rod 34 carrying the knee-shift pad 36, the rod being adjustably secured by a set screw 35 and the pad by a set screw 38. Stops 30 and 32 limit the movement of the swinging member in either direction. The stop 32 engages an adjustable stop 24. To reverse for machine driven by a left hand pulley, the plate 18 is reversed end for end, and the rod 40 reversed in its bearings.
