492,877. Sewing-machines. DURKOPPWERKE AKT.-GES. April 4, 1938, No. 10222. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1937. [Class 112] In a buttonhole-sewing machine having a moving work-plate, means are provided for producing an eyed or a straight buttonhole at will. The lateral oscillation of the work-plate required to produce a buttonhole eye is derived from a cam-operated lever by means of a link i and a second lever k connected to the work-plate. The pin l connecting the link i and the lever k is slidable in a boss r on the lever and can be withdrawn from engagement with the link bv means of a hand control lever actuating a forked arm m engaging a pin on the pin l, to render the cam ineffective, the pin l then entering a hole in a fixed part q of the machine to hold the work-plate against lateral movement. The end of the link i slides in a transverse guide in the top of the boss r of the lever k, so that the pin can be re-engaged with it in the position of rest of the machine.
