Abstract

620,222. Phase changing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 9, 1947, No. 811. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1946. [Class 38 (ii)] In a phase-shifting circuit, a condenser 12 and a variable resistance 11 are connected in series between the anode 13 and cathode 10 of a triode and two substantially equal impedances 14, 9 are connected in series between the anode and cathode, their junction being connected to a point of fixed potential such as earth and to one input and one output terminals 2, 4, the other input and output terminals 1, 3 being connected to the grid 6 and to the junction of the condenser 12 and resistance 11 respectively. A source of D.C. 15 having a low A.C. impedance is connected in the anode circuit, and a grid leak resistor 8 is connected either to earth or to a tapping on impedance 9, Fig. 2 (not shown). Upon varying resistance 11 from zero to its maximum, the output voltage at terminals 3, 4 varies in phase over nearly 180 degrees while remaining substantially constant in value.
