Abstract
648,305. Phase changing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Oct. 28, 1946, No. 31935. [Class 38 (ii)] In a phase-shifting circuit A.C. from source 1 is applied to grid 5 of a triode 2, the output between anode 4 and cathode 6 producing voltages, equal and approximately opposite in phase, across equal anode resistance 9 and cathode resistance 7 which are connected at the earthed point O. A high resistance 11 is connected between anode and cathode, and a capacitor 13 between anode and a contact 12 which is movable along the resistance 11. Such movement varies the phase of the output 3, 3 between contact 12 and point O over 180 degrees. If a capacitor 14 is connected in parallel with anode resistance 9 the phase change is more than 180 degrees but the output voltage varies a little in magnitude. By connecting two such circuits in series, a phase change of more than 360 degrees is obtained, Fig. 3 (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 620,222.
