Abstract

619,296. Mixing-apparatus. LLOYD, J. M., and LLOYD, D. L. Nov. 30, 1946, No. 35569. [Class 86] Apparatus for mixing comminuted materials such as coal slack and coal slurry, comprises two conveyer systems delivering the materials in predetermined quantities to a further conveyer where they are combined and then mixed. The coal slack is conveyed by belting 12. Fig. 1, to a chute 13 and deposited on a conveyer 11. Three conveyers 17. Fig. 7, moving at right angles to the conveyers 11, 12 deliver the coal slurry which is formed into a ribbon by an adjustable roller 25 above each conveyer 17 and cut into thin slivers by rotating knives 33 and delivered on top of the coal slack on the conveyer 11. The blending of the two materials may be accomplished by dropping them into a truck or in a worm mixer or by any suitable means. The ribbon delivered by the conveyers 17, if of dry material, is moistened by water or oil before passing under the roller 25. In mixing more than two materials, the slurry is fed last on to a main conveyer carrying a mixture of the others.
