Abstract

618,978. Reflectors electric ovens. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MORRIS, F. H. Oct. 24, 1946, No. 31596. [Classes 39 (iii) and 75 (ii)] A reflector for use in infra-red electric heating apparatus is adapted to be supported at each of two parallel edges by a rod or bar lying parallel thereto, the said edges being shaped so as to interfit or interlock with the edges of similar reflectors placed adjacent thereto and the interfitted edges being adapted to be supported by a single rod or bar. Reflectors for assembling together to form a wall of an infra-red electric oven each comprise a flat rectangular sheet 10, Fig. 4, of anodized aluminium, the long edges 35 and 36 being shaped to interfit with the long edges of adjacent reflectors, the edge 35 being provided with a tubular beading 39 between lips 40, and the edge 36 being provided with a lip 41 between tubular beadings 42, the beadings providing passages for supporting rods when the reflectors are assembled together. Each reflector may be provided with one or more apertures 33 in which one or more infra red electric lamps are mounted or such aperture or apertures may be closed by a metal insert or inserts to provide a continuous reflecting surface. Alternatively bowl reflectors may be formed behind the apertures 33 integral with the sheet 10. The infra red electric oven comprises two parts 3, 4, Fig. 1, each mounted on a wheeled base and each comprising five horizontal banks of three reflectors each provided with apertures for four lamps, the uppermost and lowermost banks facing inwardly towards each other. The ends of the reflectors are supported by brackets 21 mounted on bars 16, and the reflectors 10, Fig. 3, in each bank are connected by rods 30 passing through the tubular beadings formed on the horizontal edges thereof. The lamps 2 which are provided with internal reflectors are mounted in holders carried by channel members 26 supported by the brackets 21. The lampholders are cooled by currents of air which pass through the bottoms of the parts 3, 4 and escape through louvres 13. In order that the angles of inclination of the uppermost and lowermost banks of reflectors may be adjustable these banks may be supported by pivoted linkages.
