A light fitting comprises a central column 10 on which are mounted a plurality of vertically adjustable lampholders 37 and a plurality of arms 21 which are both vertically and radially adjustable on the column and which carry panels 31 for screening or diffusing the light. The column is supported by a hook 12 enclosed in a sleeve 13 and has a series of sets of bores at different levels to receive supporting arms 21. Sleeves 23 with flanged edge sections 23a surround the column and are bored to correspond to the bores in the column, the sections 23a giving additional support to the arms 21 The panels 31 are carried by rods 27 mounted for radial adjustment in sleeves 25 on the arms 21. Further rods 27, without supporting arms 21. may be provided, the rods being bent at right angles and overlapping the adjacent rods, being welded to them at the join. In addition, further panels 31 may be carried by rods 35 extending downwards at an angle from sleeves 36 on the arms 21. The lampholders 37 are carried by holders 39 movable on the column 10. A lampholder 18 and shade 19 may also be provided at the bottom of the column.
