Gas-stoves; casings; reflectors.- Skeleton columnar radiants of approximately quadrant section, Figs. 1 and 2, are formed with a solid back a<3> in which is moulded a channel a<2>, serving either as an air-heating passage or to receive the burner pipe or a tiebolt for connecting a number of the radiants. Various forms of stoves employing these radiants are described, Fig. 5 showing one in which a D-section fuel-column is formed of superposed pairs of the blocks, which are backed by a curved reflector and mounted on a vertical burner pipe e, Fig. 4, lying in the channels a<2> and having projections d entering recesses a<1> in the blocks. Stoves of quadrant form for use in corners, or in pairs against a wall either side by side or separated by one or more stoves of rectangular form, are described. Four quadrantsection blocks with a central gas pipe may also be arranged to form a cylindrical stove. Figs. 11, 12 and 13 show a gas fire employing a linear arrangement of the blocks and intended for use in an open fireplace, and comprising a tearwardlyconverging base c with a plane reflecting back b<1> to which are pivoted reflecting sides b<2> which can be opened out to fill the fireplace opening. Sector plates g are secured to the bottoms of the side plates. The base c is supported at the front on feet g<1> and at the rear by. adjustable screws i bearing on the grate j, from which the front bars are removed. The reflector b<1> may be fluted.
