Abstract

618,621. Hand trucks. WALKER, S., and GARTH, G. E. Nov. 5, 1946, No. 32802. [Class 108 (i)] A hand truck adapted to be moved easily up steps comprises a U-shaped frame 1, to the open ends of which are welded downward extensions 5 set tangentially to the outer periphery of wheels 9 on the side nearest to the handle and then bent upwards at 6, 7 to form a toe-plate. An axle 8 is welded to extensions 5 and frame 1 is reinforced by cross-members 3 and a longitudinal member 4, terminating in a flat extension 12, slotted at 13 and supporting a leg 11. A two-wheeled bogie 17 is provided with an upwardly extending lug 19 to engage with slot 13 to convert said hand truck into a four-wheeled truck. The bogie is so shaped that it may be " parked " closely against the truck when the latter is resting on its end support 6, 7.
