Abstract

943,660. Powered hand carts. P. KREIS. Aug. 1, 1962 [July 4, 1961], No. 24112/61. Heading B7H. A powered wheelbarrow comprises a pair of substantially rectangular frames 1 of tubular or other section, having handles 1<SP>1</SP> and interconnecting lateral members at the top, the body portion 7 being pivoted at 8, 81 or 8<SP>11</SP>, the hinges being constructed as shown in Fig. 3 or constructed as knock-out joints and the engine 2 being supported between the frames, together with a fuel tank 15 and a protection cover 14. At the front, the side frames may be provided with side plates 11 in which the wheel axle is mounted. The engine controls are mounted, as at 5, on the handles. Instead of the wheelbarrow body, a parcel platform or other body may be provided, such as a container for liquids or gases, or a winch, and the engine may have a power take-off device so that the device may be used as a mobile spraying appliance or welding unit. A pair of pedestal legs 13 may be provided, or alternatively, wheels, which may be tiltable to an inoperative position, and the vehicle fitted with a stretcher.
