617,082. Electromagnetically-operated valves. MARTIN, MOULET, & ClE. Feb. 9, 1946, No. 4114. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1945. [Class 135] An electromagnetically-actuated valve has a closure member 7, Fig. 1, seated against the force of a weak spring 18 by compression of a relatively powerful spring 8 under the action of a sliding operating-rod 26 connected to the movable core 25 of the electromagnet. A finger member 27, resiliently mounted in a slot in the rod 26 co-operates with two inclined surfaces on a pawl 12 rocking on a pivot 13 secured in a slotted, tubular, fixed member 16. The valve is opened and closed by successive energizations of the electromagnet and is locked in the closed position by the pawl. An indicating lamp may be provided in an electric circuit having two terminals 49, 50, Fig. 4, adapted to be bridged by a spring- loaded contact 47 when the valve is open.
