Abstract
580,946. Tumbler switches. TUCKER, J. B., GAFFNEY, J. E., and FAWKE, H. Aug. 2, 1944, No. 14714. [Class 38 (v)] In a tumbler switch, intended for use with alternating current, the. dolly a is pivoted on a pin b in a mounting plate d and carries an offset pin g to which is pivoted an insulating plunger h, the free end of which passes through an aperture j' in an upper leaf spring-contact j into the cupped end k' of the lower leaf-spring contact k. When moving to the "off" position shown, the dolly moves the pivot g just overcentre, depressing the contact k against the action of a spring n, which locates the dolly definitely in the "off" position. In closing, spring n first causes k to engage j and then moves both together to the limit position in which the parts are maintained, by the spring n. The Provisional Specification also refers to a cam on the plunger engaging the upper contact to reinforce the contact in the closed position.
