207,956. Railing, A. H., Garrard, C. C., and Searle, A. F. Oct. 24, 1922. Switches, quickbreak.-An enclosed electric switch - fuse has the fuses C carried at the front of a sliding insulating plate or carrier K which is mounted' on guide pins J and carries on its rear face contacts B adapted to co-operate with fixed contacts A. On rotation of a two-armed operating lever P secured to the spindle E, an arm E<1> secured thereon engages a shoulder F' of a cam piece F, loosely mounted on the spindle and by rotating the cam piece enables a roller N at its free end to press against a metal plate O fixed to the carrier which is thereby moved inwards against compression springs M to produce engagement of the fixed and moving contacts A, B. In the closed position (Fig. 1) the roller N is at or near the dead-centre position, the switch being held closed until the handle P is rotated in the opposite direction to engage the other shoulder F', thereby rotating the cam piece F and allowing the reaction of the spring M to produce a quick opening movement.
