Abstract

17,000. Black, G. J. F. July 17. Retractive switches are actuated by a lever handle having a compound movement, the first part of the forward movement causing an additional switch to be closed and opened. The additional action docs not take place during the return stroke. The lever A, Fig. 2, is pivoted by a pin 2 to the end of an horizontal rocking shaft 3 journaled in the cover 5 of a case 20. The first part of the movement of the lever takes place in a vertical plane against the force of a return spring 25, and a spring contact-arm 21 on the shaft 3 connects fixed contacts 23, 24 to complete an additional circuit. further movement carries the arm 21 past the contacts 23, 24 and the lever against a stop 8 so that a lateral projection a on the lever comes opposite the head of the push switch. By now moving the lever laterally on its pivot 2, the push switch can be closed as many times as desired. On the return stroke, the spring arm 21 rides over the outside of the contact 24 and does not complete the additional circuit.
