616,766. Gyratory crushers. KENNEDY, J. E. Sept. 12, 1946, No. 27457. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1945. [Class 59] In a gyratory crusher in which a frustoconical mantle 42 is gyrated within a surrounding grinding-ring 20, the grinding- ring is reversible and has an upper portion of substantially greater thickness than the lower portion so that when the ring is reversed the extra thickness will compensate for the reduced diameter of the lower portion of the mantle due to wear, said portion being made of a thickness sufficient to allow of the extra wear after reversal of the ring 20. The ring 20 is held against rotation in a shell 16 by means of dowel pins 22, the shell being in two halves held together by bolts 24. The mantle 42 is mounted on a mantle core 40 which is carried by a frusto-conical portion of the main shaft 34. In a modification, the grinding-ring consists of a number of segments mounted in a backing of zinc. Specifications 322,690, [Class 59], and 502,952 are referred to.
