Abstract

The breaking head 5 of a gyratory crusher is supported by pre-compressed springs 15 disposed in a central bore in the main shaft. An hydraulic cylinder and piston unit disposed above, Fig. 2, or below, Fig. 1, the springs opposes the longitudinal forces which occur and permits initial loading of the springs and adjustment of the crushing gap 20. In one embodiment, springs 15, Fig. 1, are disposed between a shaft 13 and a ring 15 which is displaceable on a pin 16. The ring bears against one face of an hydraulic piston 17 which is guided in a tube 18 fitted into a bore in the crusher main shaft 11. A pressure relief valve is provided as a protection against the sudden occurrence of tramp material in the gap. The springs 15 and bearings 7, 8 of the crusher are lubricated by air supplied via a radial bore 20'.
