[Class 59] A pulverizing mill of the type having a series of crushing roll assemblies 10 hinged to a rotatable carrier member 9 and urged centrifugally against an annular die ring 14, comprises a rotatable centre driving shaft 1, means located above the lower end of the shaft for supporting it in a generally vertical position, means for detachably securing the roll carrier member 9 upon the lower free end of the shaft comprising a split, contractible downwardly and outwardly tapered metal adapter 19 encircling and detachably secured to the shaft and interfitting within a corresponding tapered opening in the carrier 9 and means for preventing relative rotation between the carrier member and the adapter. The adapter 19 is keyed in the carrier 9, is threaded on the shaft 1, is locked on to the shaft by a nut 27 and a stop 30, and a retaining ring 29 secured to its upper face prevents upward movement of the carrier 9 relative thereto. A screen 16 through which pulverized material may be drawn surrounds the crushing chamber.
