Abstract

1,209,618. Ball mills. VYZKUMNY USTAV ORGANICKYCH SYNTEZ. 11 Dec., 1967 [12 Dec., 1966], No. 56183/67. Heading B2A. Dispersing apparatus has a device for separating the media from the dispersed material and comprises a cylindrical vessel 4, Fig. 2, a shaft and agitating discs with diameter between 50 and 95% of the inner vessel diameter and a supply neck 7 for a suspension to be ground. The separating device comprises a rotatable circular plate 10 and a stationary annular plate 9 fixed to the vessel, or an extension 15 thereof. The rotatable plate is keyed either to a separate independently-driven shaft or to the main agitator shaft, Fig. 3 (not shown), and has a diameter larger than that of the central opening in the stationary annular plate. The rotatable plate is at the same side of the annular plate as the mixture of grinding media and suspension. The circular plate has an outer cylindrical surface 12 and a diameter no greater than that of the agitator discs. The agitator is driven at a circumferential speed of at least 8m/sec. The grinding bodies may have a diameter of between 0.25 and 1.0 mm and take 40 to 60% of the vessel capacity. The vessel has a discharge neck 11. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,024,053.
