Abstract

1,046,225. Mixing powders and liquids. PATTERSON KELLEY CO. Inc. July 29, 1963 [March 11, 1963], No.29929/63. Heading B1C. Apparatus for blending a powder with a liquid comprises an inverted conical container 14 having a coaxial hollow rotatable spindle 22 which carries a dished slinger disc 40 and a jaw 42. Particulate material is supplied to a fixed hopper 32 and passes through a central aperture 36 round the spindle 22 on to the disc 40 whence it is projected evenly around the periphery of the disc into contact with the container wall and descends slowly in a helical path. The fan 42 is arranged to produce an upward air-flow which helps to keep the powder in suspension; it is wetted by liquid supplied through the hollow spindle and projected by the swashplate-like spray device 45 described in Specification 875901. When sufficient product has accumulated in the bottom of the container it is discharged by the opening of the lips of the discharge device 50 which consists of a flattened rubber sleeve having a slit 51. The spindle 22 is carried by a beam 26 and the curtains 42 by a bracket 16 which is vertically adjustable by means of a hand-wheel 18 and screw 20 whereby the clearance between the container and the waiting members may be varied.
