Abstract

1,260,178. Mixing apparatus. POLYSIUS AG. 3 Nov., 1969 [16 Jan., 1969], No. 53701/ 69. Heading B1C. Apparatus for homogenising fine granular material comprises a container 1 having a frusto-conical portion 3 with an air-permeable, porous wall 14, a base 6 which is also airpermeable and porous, a tubular portion 4 disposed between portion 3 and the base, a centrally disposed standpipe 7 arranged with its lower aperture above the base. a compressed air nozzle 5 passing through the base, and an inlet 9 and outlet 16 for feeding and discharging material to and from the container, the outlet being located in the side wall of the portion 4. The latter may either be cylindrical or conical in shape. The nozzle 5 may project into the standpipe. A guide element 13 may be located above the standpipe and below inlet 9. The base may be conical or flat. Material may be homogenised in the apparatus either batchwise or continuously by blowing air through nozzle 5, wall 14, and base 6.
