[Class 37] A rectifier unit comprises at least one metal. rectifier stack 9 in a hollow insulating plastic housing 1 open only on its base wall, a removable insulating countersunk cover-plate 10, a lateral recess 13 in a side wall for terminal connections 14, and flanges 6 on the base with screws 7 securing the housing to a flat surface to retain the plate 10 in position. A compression spring 12 in the housing maintains the selenium or copper oxide rectifier discs, arranged for full-wave or half-wave rectification, in pressure contact. End or intermediate terminals of the stack are formed as spirals 15 having lateral displacement for resilient pressure contact, the enlarged spiral giving an enlarged contact area. The housing is rectangular or semicircular in cross-section, or may be cylindrical as in Fig. 7.
