[Class 37] In an alternating current rectifier of the type comprising a disc or plate 1 provided on each face with a layer of copper oxide or selenium and outer conductive coatings, the said coatings are electrically connected together by a spring contact member 7 extending in an insulated manner through an aperture in the plate or disc so as to be clamped between contact washers 9 disposed one on each side of the rectifier. The spring contact member 7 is housed within an insulating tube 8 disposed between recesses formed in each contact washer. A plurality of the rectifiers may be mounted on a central insulated rod 5, in the manner illustrated, the rectifier being connected in series with the aid of intervening sheet metal connectors 11 and insulating spacers 13.
