622,408. Asymmetrically - conducting resistances. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., CUBITT, R. H., and SELL, R. G. March 20, 1947, No. 7653. [Class 37] Metal rectifiers 5 are clamped in a stack on an internal rib or partition 2 in a metal casing 1, which conducts away the heat, forms one terminal of the assembly and has its ends hermetically sealed by insulating plates 19 through which the terminals 21 extend. The rectifiers are clamped on both sides of the partition by a hollow rivet 14 thereon and are connected by wires to the rivets or eyelets 21 in the plates 19. A rubber cap 33 fits over one end of the casing to cover connectors 32 on the rivets on one end plate, and a contact spring 30 is attached to a rivet on the other end plate. The rectifiers are threaded with spacer discs 7 and connector discs 8 and end contact discs 12 on an insulating tube 4 in the partition 2, a spring washer 15 being interposed between one end of the rivet 14 and a contact disc 12. The outer rims 20 of the casing are spun over the end plates. Alternating current is fed to the rectifiers adjacent the partition ; the contact discs 12 form the positive output connected to two rivets 21, the partition and casing forming the negative terminal. The casing may have a bayonet catch for attachment to a tube.
