Abstract

224,983. Brown, J. H., and Scott, E. Aug. 31, 1923. Binding-posts and terminals.- A three-piece spring terminal comprises a socket member a with a notch or open slot e at one side, a plunger b, sliding within the socket and having a groove cooperating with the slot to grip a conductor, and a spring c actuating the plungers. The groove is preferably annular and one surface is formed at a greater acute angle to the plunger axis than the slot e, so as to tend to draw a conductor f into the slot. A projecting knob on the plunger may carry insulating material. The plunger is preferably hollow to take the end of the spring c and reduce the length of the terminal.
