Abstract
283,309. Bray, A., and Bray & Co., Ltd., G. Nov. 10, 1926. Two-part couplings.-In lamp-holders and other couplings having a contact unit comprising a plunger slidable in a metal guide against the action of a spring, an additional resilient conductor is provided to contact with the exterior of the plunger and with its guide to make a good electric connection between them. This device may comprise a split ring a, Fig. 1, embracing the plunger b and adapted to bear on the annular surface c' at the mouth of the guide under the action of the spring d, or it may comprise a wider split band a, Fig. 2, adapted to press at one end on the plunger and at the other end on the wall of the guide e. In the case of a solid plunger i, Fig. 3<a> having an external spring d, the device may comprise a flat ring a adapted to be pressed by the spring d against the end h of the socket e, the ring having upstanding and inwardly bent ears a<1> resiliently pressing on the plunger.
