615,444. Sharpening chain saws. KLOMP, P. P. Nov. 26, 1945, No. 31900. Convention date, May 26. [Class 60] A machine for sharpening chain saws, particularly those described in Specification 603,807, comprises a strap carried on the base of the machine, and holding a pinion round which a chain to be sharpened is wound, said base carrying moreover an arm holding in its turn a grinding wheel, the relative positioning of the wheel with reference to the chain being adjustable in accordance with wear. An arm 2 is pivotally secured to a spindle 3 rigid with base 1, the arm carrying stops 4, 4<SP>1</SP> co-operating with a stationary stop 5 to limit the rocking movement; the arm terminates in a sleeve 6 in which is mounted a head 7 carrying a grinding wheel 8, the head being axially adjustable in the sleeve. The chain saw 11 is supported by a pinion 10 carried by a strap 12 mounted, for movement about a vertical axis, in hollow upright 13; the strap is vertically adjustable to compensate for wear of the grinding wheel. A stud 15 serves to set the strap in any one of three angular positions corresponding respectively to sharpening of the planing teeth, sharpening of the teeth cutting to the right, and sharpening of the teeth cutting to the left. An indexing plunger 17 is provided for the pinion.
