[Class 100(ii)] [Also in Group XV] A hand stamp comprises a stamping plate 9 and an ink pad 6 which, when the stamp is not in use, are held in contact with one another within a two part container comprising two interengaging sleeves 1, 2 of which the outer, 2, forms a handle for the stamping plate 9 to which it is pivotally connected and the inner, 1, has a longitudinal portion cut away to a length slightly less than that over which it is embraced by the outer sleeve 2, the remaining portion of the inner sleeve 1 forming a holder 5 for the ink pad 6. The stamping plate 9 is carried by a rod 11 which is rigid with a split ring 12 sliding under friction in the sleeve 2. To limit the outward movement of the sleeve 2, the rod 11 is extended beyond the ring 12 to form a loop 15 which has a lost-motion connection with a link member 16 fixed in the sleeve 2. The rod 11 is made in the form of a resilient hook, the free limb 17 pressing the stamping plate against the pad 6 when the stamp is not in use. The end 7 of the holder 5 is turned over to form a stop 8 to prevent axial withdrawal of the stamp which is moved towards a rubber cushion 14 till it clears the stop 8 when it can be removed at an angle. A modification is described in which the outward movement of the sleeve 2 is limited by an extension of the rod 11 in the form of a sleeve which slides over a rod attached to the sleeve 2, an enlarged head on the rod co-operating with a flange on the sleeve to limit movement. The stamp is described as combined with a propelling pencil 3 formed as an extension of the sleeve 1. Instead of a pencil 3, the extension may include fountain pen mechanism or be formed as a pipe scraper or as a container for refill leads.
