592,390. Propelling pencils. BOWLER, S. May 13, 1946, No. 12901/45. [Class 146 (iii)] In a propelling pencil of the kind composed of two tubular parts a, e telescoped one upon the other, with friction means between them to prevent accidental movement so that relative sliding movement causes a lead ejector rod i carried by the one part to be slid axially within a bore in the other part to project a lead b forwardly on shortening of the overall length, the forward part a has a clearance fit within the part e and carries a plunger f at its inner end which maintains frictional contact with the bore of the part e. The rod i is fixed to a member j removably secured to the back part e of the pencil, and the plunger f consists of an outwardly sprung split sleeve. The member j may be hollow to form a reservoir k for lead refills and a covering cap o may serve to secure a pocket clip.
