Abstract

898,363. Pencil holders. JOHNSON, MATTHEY & CO. Ltd. Feb. 19, 1960 [March 20, 1959], No. 9783/59. Class 146(3) A pencil holder is of the kind comprising a barrel housing a lead-carrying ejector member, slotted slider tube surrounding the ejector member and a helix associated therewith, a pin on the ejector member engaging both the slider tube and helix. As shown the helix 14 is rotatable within the slider tube 2 which is a force fit within the barrel 1, the helix being secured to a tubular end cap 9 rotatably but axially immovably mounted on the rear end of the barrel. A pin 19 on an ejector member 16 engages both the coils of the helix and a slot 3 in the tube 2. The member 16 comprises a body portion 17 and an axially extending rod 18 carrying a lead-holding sleeve 20. The cap 9 is retained against axial movement by an annular groove 13 in the barrel. A lead sharpening device is a press-fit in the cap 9.
