Abstract

742,337. Pencil holders. SCRIPTO, Inc. Sept. 18, 1953 [June 24, 1953], No. 25873/53. Class 146(3) [Also in Group XVII] A holder for marking elements, especially soft marking elements, such as crayons and cosmetic stick materials, comprises a protective sleeve 14 having internal longitudinal ridges 20 engaging the marking element 16. A collar 22, of flexible material such as polyethylene, engages the ridges 20 and also grips the end 32 of a plunger 24. The plunger 24 has a propelling member 36 provided with a portion 44 extending through a slot in a tube 42 to engage threads 40. Rotation of the tube 42, in the appropriate direction, by means of cap 46 secured thereto causes projection of the plunger 24 and thus the collar 22, sleeve 14 and marking .element 16 until a flange 18 on the sleeve 14 engages the rear face of a screwed tip 30 to arrest the sleeve 14, further movement of the element 16 and collar 22 being relative to the sleeve 14. Replacement marking elements 16 may be supplied complete with the sleeve 14 and collar 22 or with separate collars. Replacement of the element 16 is effected by removing the screwed tip 30.
