Abstract

612,670. Electron image tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. May 29, 1946, No. 16393. Convention date, May 30, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] In a television camera tube having a magnetic scanning system, a compensating magnetic field is provided to eliminate the effect of the scanning coils on the electron image part of the tube. Fig. 1 shows an " Iconoscope " according to the invention; the coil 36 is in series with the scanning coils 30 and is arranged so that there is no resultant magnetic field acting on the electrons in their passage from the photo-cathode 12 to the mosaic 20. A variable resistance may be included in parallel with coil 36 to enable the degree of compensation to be adjusted.
