Abstract

744,760. Cathode-ray tubes. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd. Nov. 19, 1953 [Nov. 20, 1952], No. 29322/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 39 (1). In a cathode-ray tube astigmatism of the image produced by the electromagnetic focusing and deflecting coils is corrected by the rotation and longitudinal displacement of a non- magnetizable collar surrounding the neck of the tube, and carrying two magnetizable members of high permeability at diametrically opposite positions. The magnetizable members are magnetized by the field of the focusing coil. Preferably the collar is positioned on the gun side of the electromagnetic coils. It may be locked in position after adjustment. The cathode-ray tube may be a receiver tube, storage tube or transmitting tube such as an iconoscope, an image iconoscope or a monoscope.
