Abstract

612,275. Two-part couplings. PARSONS, Ltd., C. H., and HANDLEY, G. B. May 22, 1946, No. 15573. [Class 38 (i)] A split, resilient socket is mounted on a metal plate with one portion riveted in position, whilst the other is allowed a degree of lateral movement. The socket comprises an upper circular portion 12 and two side walls 14, 15, each having an attachment foot 16, 17 respectively. The foot 16 is riveted to the under side of an attachment plate 18, the socket projecting through a hole in this plate, which plate is screwed to an insulating base 19. The other foot 17 is located in a recess 21 in the base which gives support against axial movement, but allows lateral movement. As an alternative (not shown) the foot 17 may be slotted and supported by a guide screw or rivet secured to the plate 18. This plate also carries a terminal post and has an extended arm to join with a switch in a switched outlet. The sockets may also be non-circular, and may be reinforced by an encircling spring.
