Abstract

718,002. Lamp-holders. NETTLE ACCESSORIES, Ltd., and REVINGTON, D. Aug. 13, 1953, [Sept. 18, 1952; Jan. 1, 1953.] Nos. 23435/52 and 29/53. Class 38(1). A lamp-holder, particularly for outdoor use, comprises two plunger contacts 2, 3 fixed on a cable i by pointed screws which pierce the cable insulation, each screw making contact with one cable conductor, and a rubber or like body 4 moulded round the cable and the bases of the plunger contacts. The contacts are held in position by a fibre piece 4a during moulding. Bayonet slots 6 opening into an annular groove 7 are formed on the inside of the skirt 5, and a thin flexible lip 8 provided round the skirt ensures a good fit for a lamp cap of the smallest size allowable by normal tolerances. In another embodiment (Fig. 5) two metal clips 9 are squeezed round the cable and the screws on the plunger contacts screwed into the cable through threaded holes in the clips. A metal sleeve may be incorporated in the skirt 5 and the bayonet slots formed in this sleeve, and the skirt may be extended so as to fit closely round the wider part of a lamp cap.
