Abstract
756,224. Portable lamps. FINCH, G. E. and FRANKLAND, R. H. Feb. 22, 1954 [Nov. 21, 1952; March 11, 1953], Nos. 29522/52 and 6737/53. Classes 75(3) and 75(4). An electric light unit comprises two hemispherical parts 1, 2 interfitting in male and female manner, one at last of the parts being wholly or partly'translucent, an electric bulb 5 supported within the unit, contact means for supplying current to the bulb and a suction cup 17 for attaching the unit to a supporting surface. Preferably both parts 1, 2 are made of translucent shock-resisting plastic, the upper part 1 being red and the lower part 2 being clear, white or amber and the parts are held together either by screw threads or by friction, The bulb is supported by a bridge 6 provided with end lugs 8 located in recesses in the free edge of the upper part 1. The end pole of the bulb engages with a contact 12 on the end of a screw 15 threaded into a nut 13 moulded integrally into the apex of the upper part 1, a knob 16 being provided on the end of the screw outside the unit. The suction cup 17 has a stem with a bulbous end 20 which is forced inwardly through a hole in the upper part 1. In a modified construction the contact means comprises two spring members adapted to be pressed together by the two parts 1, 2 when these are rotated relatively to each other.
