Abstract

611,861. Hydraulic reciprocating pumps. VENNING, J. D. E. May 10, 1946, Nos. 14238 and 28797. [Class 102 (i)] An hydraulic reciprocating pump comprises a piston 4 reciprocated in a cylinder 1 by means of a bottom end bearing 8 which is in sliding engagement with an enlarged end piece 6 of the piston 4. The bottom end bearing 8 is mounted on an eccentric 10 on a rotating shaft 11. In order to maintain the foot-piece 6 in contact with the bottom end bearing during the return stroke of the piston, the piston head is connected to the bottom end bearing by a strong spring 15 contained within the piston. Alternative methods of connecting the spring to the piston head and bottom end bearing and alternative types of spring are described.
