Abstract

611,314. Shearing. TRIGGS, W. W. (Cleveland Crane & Engineering Co.). Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28872. [Class 83 (iv)] A shearing machine comprises a fixed blade 24 co-operating with a blade 26 oscillated about a parallel shaft by eccentric gear. An electromotor 103 through clutch and brake mechanism and a fly-wheel 108 operates pitmans 70 oscillating members 33 connected by stiffeners 57, 58, 59, 60, 61 and carrying the blade 26. Pivots 41 for the members 33 comprise eccentrics cross-coupled and adjustable to vary the radial setting of the blade. The pitmans 70 are connected to the members 33 through eccentrics cross-coupled by a shaft 78 and adjustable to vary the stroke position. Spring-pressed holddowns 160 are carried by a bar mounted on parallel links and actuated by cams on the shaft 23. A one-revolution clutch is operated from a pedal which is depressed to displace a gag from a spring-pressed movable member to release the brake and to connect the clutch.
