Abstract

628,148. Metal-working presses. VERKSTADSAKTIEBOLAGET HALDEX. Jan. 31, 1947, No. 3014. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1946. [Class 83 (iv)] The stroke length of a toggle-actuated press particularly for shearing sheets is adjusted by varying the position of the upper, relativelyfixed link pin 5 so that the plane containing this pin 5 and the lower tool-holder-pin 9 normal to the plane of motion of the intermediate knee-pin 4 is at different distances from the extreme positions 3, 4 of the power-crank reciprocated, knee-pin 4. For a short doublefrequency stroke, Fig. 2 (not shown), the extreme knee-pin positions are at equal distances from the plane containing the pins 5 and 9 above and for a long stroke the plane is nearer one of the extreme positions 4. In both cases the distance between the pin 5 and the extreme tool holder-pin position 6 is the same. The alternative positions 5, 51 of the pin 5 are obtained by mounting it on a hand-rotated eccentric, Fig. 4 (not shown), and an intermediate higher, idling position 8 is provided for work-insertion &c.
