Class 106 (ii)] A device for indicating linear change in tensioned filamentary material has means for holding one end of the specimen in a fixed position and means for anchoring the other end and means including a pivotally mounted counter-weighted lever responsive to linear changes in said specimen. The device comprises a rod 1 carrying two spaced brackets 2, on one of which is mounted a dial 5 with an indicating pointer 6. One end of the specimen 8 is wrapped round a grooved cylinder 10 attached to a bracket 15 on the rod 1 and has a fine adjustment 12. The other end is connected through a link 17 to a lever arm 22, carried by the bracket 2, the other end of which has a rack 24 which meshes with a pinion 25 controlling the pointer 6. To tension the yarn, a counter-weight 26 is provided on a rod 27 which with a link 30 and the arm 22 forms a lever fulcrumed on a shaft 23 so that the lever arm 22 is constantly subjected to a turning moment. Any change in length of the specimen 8 may be observed by the movement of the indicating pointer 6.
