Abstract

199,152. Holt, R. March 20, 1922. Tension indicators for yarns, threads, and the like which are being wound from one body or place to another as in winding machines, comprise a part applied to one side of the, yarn, a spring controlled contact or deflecting device tending to form a bight in the yarn, &c. and means for indicating the extent of the movement. As shown in; Figs. 2, 3, a lcngitudinally movable rod 14 is mounted to slide in plugs 15, 16 at opposite ends of a tube 17. A winged plate 24, supported at the lower end of the tube 17 by means of clips 241, carries guide rollers 26 to the grooves of which the yarn &c. is guided by the wings 244. In use the rod 14 is raised against the influence of the spring 11 to draw up the roller 12, mounted on said rod, so as to leave a straight passage' for the yarn etc.; the rod being then released takes up a position as shown in Fig. 3. In the form shown in'Figs. 4, and 8, the movable roller 12 is carried by an arm 38 which is rotated by gearing as shown through a trigger 401, and the rollers 26 are mounted on a plate 39 secured to the casing 28. A pointer 33 on the spindle 31 indicates the tension on a graduated dial 29.
