Class 120(2) [Also in Group VIII] A metering device 3 for measuring a predetermined length of yarn 2 which passes over a pulley 1 is provided with rollers formed with notches 4 so arranged that all the notches are in alignment when the desired measurement has been reached, to allow a pivoted gate 7 to enter the notches and release an arm 9 connected to a spring-urged blade 15 which rotates to sever the yarn against a fixed blade 14. When the yarn has been cut a lever 16 is moved by gravity to release a spring-urged blade 20 to stop the pulley 1 and the metering device 3. In a modification a weighted rod is released when the yarn is cut and falls to release a hook which holds a spring-urged brake lever so that the brake lever stops the pulley and the metering device.
