Abstract
609,962. Trimming wallpaper &c. CUNNINGHAM, A. V. March 26, 1946, No. 9374. [Class 31(i)] A portable apparatus for trimming wallpaper &c., comprises a pair of adjustable supports 7 with slots 11 for receiving a rod 4 on which the roll 5 of paper is wound, the supports 7 being secured by screws 8 to brackets 3 formed on a metal base 1, 2, which supports the cutter shafts 17, 18. The web is led under a guide rod 29 which contacts the web at a level slightly lower than the surface of the base 1, and the sides of the web are controlled by adjustable guides 25, Fig. 2 not shown, secured by bolts 27 and nuts 26 to transverse slots in the base 1. The roll 5 is held in place on its spindle 4 by adjustable flanges 12. Before passing between rubber collars 21 on the shaft 17 and bosses 22 on the shaft 18 the web is pressed down by a weighted rod 30 movable in vertical guides, and the cutter shafts are driven by the web as it is pulled through the machine by an operator. To adjust the width of the cut the rotary cutters 19 are carried by sleeves 19a held in adjusted position by screws 19b, and the coacting cutters 20 are mounted on sleeves 20a acted on by springs 23 which press the edges of the cutters 20 into contact with the edges of the cutters 19 to ensure a shearing cut.
