Abstract

1412655 Cutting apparatus JAGENBERGWERKE AG 24 Sept 1973 [11 Nov 1972] 44603/73 Heading B4B Apparatus for slitting a web of material, e.g. paper, comprises a first disc cutter 26 rotatably mounted on an axially fixed shaft, a co-operating second disc cutter 23 rotatably mounted on an axially movable shaft 21 which is mounted via leaf springs 11, 12 on a carriage 5 for movement in a vertical plane and also mounted via leaf springs 16, 17 such that the cutter 23 can be moved axially into mating contact with the cutter 26. The leaf springs 11, 12 are each secured at one end to a bracket 6, 7, 8, 9 fixed to the carriage 5, the other ends being secured to coupling block 15. A piston-and-cylinder device 24 is mounted between the carriage and the block thereby enabling the cutter 23 to be raised or lowered relative to the plane of the material. The axial movement of the cutter 23 is effected by a piston-and-cylinder device 25 mounted between an extension 31 on the block 15 and a block 19 fixed to the leaf spring 16. Adjustable stop screws 30, 35 are provided for limiting the movement of the cutter 23 in its two directions.
