Abstract

1370087 Disc cutting apparatus JOHN DUSENBERY CO Inc 6 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 37248/73 Heading B4B A cutting knife arrangement for a web slitting machine comprises a cutting disc 26 rotatably mounted by means of an axle 28 located in holes 29 formed in the arms of a bifurcated bar slidably mounted in housing 10, 11 the holes communicating with respective slots 30, in the bar which slots, in a predetermined position of the bar, align with channels 33, 33<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2 formed in the housing. The housing is formed from two plates 10, 11 connected by spacers 12, 13, 17, Fig. 3, and formed with slots 21 in which the bar 20 is slidable; the bar is connected to a piston-and-cylinder device which effects movement of the cutting disc towards a back-up roller 38. The cutting disc can be inserted or removed from the bar 20 when the latter is in the position shown in Fig. 1, the, slots 30 in the bar being dimensioned such that the axle engages the holes 29, by: a snap action. The channels 33, 33<SP>1</SP> may. be either in the form of recesses in the side plates 10, 11 as shown in Fig. 2 or as through-slots (41) Fig. 6 (not shown).
