Abstract

609,906. Rotary engines or pumps. COX PATENT ROTARY PUMP, Ltd., and COX, A. F. March 25, 1946, No. 9121. [Class 110 (ii)] In a rotary machine, such as described in Specification 414,752, the spaces formed at the inner ends of the blade slots, where each pair of diametrically opposite blades crosses the other pair or pairs of blades, are substantially sealed from communication with one another. During each inward movement of a blade the fluid beneath it is forced out to the delivery port using slots B<3>, C<4> in the faces of the blades. The pressures exerted on the outer ends of other blades, by an incoming blade, are reduced and this reduces wear. Blades B, B<1> are interconnected by a central web passing through a slot on the axis of the rotor A, while blades C, C<1> are connected by a pair of webs axially displaced from that connecting blades B, B<1>.
