Abstract
476,515. Rotary pumps. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and WARREN, R. Aug. 5, 1936, No. 21538. [Class 110 (ii)] A vaned rotor E is rotated on a stub shaft D by means of a casing C which is driven by a shaft B The casing C is built up of end plates C<1>, C<2>, and theworking chamber is lined by a ring C3, which may be of rubber. The ring C<3> has in it a number of recesses C' which are shaped each to form an approximate envelope of the corresponding vane tip as the latter moves relatively to the rotary casing. Ports C<5> in the plate C<1> communicate with stationary inlet and delivery ports A<1>, A<2> leading to inlet and outlet branches A<3>, A'. When used for pumping gases, liquid may be admitted to the working chamber and seal the vane tips by centrifugal action. In this case, one or both ports A', A<2> may be extended. The shaft D may be adjustable to vary the relative eccentricity between the rotors, thus altering the capacity of the working chamber.
