609,436. Watches. BUCHLER, W. A. March 14, 1946, No. 7964. Convention date, March 19, 1945. [Class 139] A watch has a twopart winding arbor which parts are axially displaceable mutually to allow three separate operations. The winding arbor comprises a crown 1 with an extension 3 and a second part 4 with a piston 5 formed with a guide slot 6 in which slides a pin 8 attached to the extension 3. A spring 7 is inserted between the piston 5 and the extension 3. A returning lever 9 for the seconds hand is controlled by a lever 11 with a pin 18. In the drawing the arbor is shown in its hour setting position. If the crown is pressed downwards the parts 3, 4 will be held apart by the spring 7 but the part 4 will be in the winding position. If the crown is further depressed to compress the spring 7 the base 12 of the extension 3 will act on the pin 18 of the lever 11 to control the resetting mechanism for the seconds hand. In a modification, the rotary movement is transmitted to the second part of the winding arbor by a square piston moving within a tubular extension with a bent-in rim.
