[Also in Group XVIII] A clock or watch has an alarm or switch tripping mechanism comprising a cam 4a, Figs. 2 and 3, which is mounted on the sleeve 2 of the hour wheel 2a, and a setting wheel 5 which is mounted on the sleeve of the cam 4a. A friction spring 6 is located between the hour wheel 2a and the setting wheel 5 and provides a friction clutch between the hour wheel 2a and the cam 4 and between the cam 4 and the setting wheel 5. The cam has a peripheral recess 31 and co-operates with the arm 20b of a bell-crank 20, the other arm of which carries a contact 22 of a radio switch, the other contact 26 of which is controlled by a cam 27 manually movable to three positions defined by a detent 30. The arrangement is such that in the first position of the cam 27 the radio switch 22, 26 is closed; in the second position of the cam 27 the radio switch is open and in the third position the contact 26 is located so as to be engaged by the contact 22 when the bell-crank 20 under the bias of the spring 23 is allowed to move clockwise by the cam 4a. The alarm indicator disc 10 is fixed to the sleeve 4 of the cam 4a and moves behind a dial 13 in which the hour hand is marked.
